Topic: "What is SUGA"

Details and Bio

Roy Sobelson, Board President, Senior University of Greater Atlanta (SUGA) www.su-ga.org

An Atlanta native, Roy graduated from Briarcliff High, Emory and UGA Law school. He practiced law with Georgia Legal Services in Brunswick, serving as Managing Attorney for a few years. If you’ve read Melissa Fay Greene’s “Praying for Sheetrock,” you know what we did in that office. He then earned an LLM at Temple Law, and became a professor and Associate Dean at GSU Law, from which he retired in 2018. Since then, he has been teaching at SUGA and OLLI ( Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Emory), and acting as a docent at the Breman Museum, among other things.

He and his wife, Bonnie, have been married 50+ years, and we have two children and three grandchildren. My favorite activities are traveling (favorite trips thus far are a visit to the Galapagos Islands and a camera safari in Tanzania), reading, walking, near-daily swimming, cooking on the Big Green Egg, doing word games and (most of all) spending time with my family.
